Hey,

I hope all is good.

Let's go.

iPhone rumors

Yes, it's that time of year when the blogs are speculating about a September release of a new iPhone.

Macrumors and NOT confirmed, have been β€˜informed’ the iPhone 17 may have:

  • "An upgraded Telephoto lens with up to 8Γ— optical zoom, compared to up to 5Γ— optical zoom on the iPhone 16 Pro models. The lens can apparently move, allowing for continuous optical zoom at various focal lengths.
  • An all-new pro camera app from Apple for both photos and videos. This app would compete with the likes of Halide, Kino, and Filmic Pro. It is unclear if the app would be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models.
  • An additional Camera Control button on the top edge of the devices, for quickly accessing the camera and related settings. This would complement the Camera Control button on the bottom-right edge of all iPhone 16 models."

There is also speculation about Apple releasing their first foldable phone aka the 'iPhone Fold' in 2026.

YouTube Shorts introduce AI Tools

There was a lot of fuss recently about whether AI generated content would get demonetized on YouTube following a YouTube post on the topic.

Well it turned out it was just a tweak in policy to stop 'repetitious content'.

Meanwhile YouTube is starting to roll out AI tools for shorts in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to start with.

So clearly AI does have a role in their content plans.

Features include turning a photo into video, and AI effects.

The return of Vine?

Remember the Twitter owned Vine - a short-form video hosting service where users could create and share six-second, looping video clips, well ...

VIA reuters:

"Elon Musk's social media company X is bringing back popular video-sharing platform Vine in "AI form", the billionaire tech-entrepreneur said on Thursday, almost nine years after the app was discontinued."

This tutorial Video is GOLD!

I recently had my first Pickleball lesson, a sign I must be getting old :)

The rules can be tricky at first if you have tennis rules ingrained in you, so I went on YouTube and typed, you guessed it … "pickleball rules".

I have got to commend this video from The Pickleball Guy which pops up at the top of the rankings, and has 2.7m views - so clearly he is doing something right.

Yes, a lot of effort has gone into this video, but it's a pillar piece of content that will bring him new subscribers (and revenue) for years.

You can learn from it, whatever your niche.

Just watch the first 90 Seconds if you are in a rush!

video preview

Key learnings from the first 90 seconds:

  • The start of the video has ZERO FLUFF, no ego driven yada yada about who HE is, it's all about the viewer and the promise of the video for THEM.
  • A hook is mentioned at the TOP for something coming at the END of the video (to see real gameplay) to keep people watching (so extending the watch time).
  • Camera β€˜jump zooms’ (done in the editing) plus graphics and sound effects always keep it moving. (See my Motion Hero Club)
  • Broll is used extensively, if he says something you SEE it, if he talks about the court size you see a graphic, no leaving the viewer guessing or frustrated.
  • Using text on screen doubles down on the key phrases and components of his script.
  • Highlighting part of the screen, for example the right leg when he is talking about it focusses your attention.

If you are thinking this is too hard to edit, then hire an editor for your most important evergreen long form videos!
