Here are some quick updates: iOS26 and the camera So iOS26 was released Monday, and you might be wondering what has changed with the camera app? Go .... π Watch here (cued up at 2.04) iPhone 17 Not to forget of course Apple has launched the iPhone17 too and the iPhone Air :) The event was impressively filmed on an iPhone. I've been seeing quite a few posts saying there's not enough new to upgrade. I guess it depends what phone you currently have. The main new feature for social/business shooters is the selfie mode "You no longer have to change your phone's physical orientation to capture a selfie in portrait or landscape mode" Plus better front camera stabilisation. Watch this Apple clip to the end for details π My thought: Since you can shoot horizontal when the camera is vertical it will help you keep eye contact with the lens as the lens isn't out to one side like when you shoot with your phone rotated to landscape. Then there is also 'dual capture' meaning you can shoot and capture the front and rear cameras at the same time. Previously this was only available via third party apps like MixCam.β Also centre stage will help you frame yourself as you move in live calls. π This article has a good summary of what is new.β If you are a pro-shooter / filmmaker then the video below is more geeky for you π Auto Dubbing on YouTube YouTube is rolling out auto-dubbing, if you want to expand your reach to a wider global audience via different languages. π Read moreβ Same subject 2 styles I've never been on a cruise but after watching one video on YouTube I am now drowning in cruise reviews. Watching the same topic covered by different creators is useful to see their approach. Voiceover driven example: Takeaways: Pluses: Shooting lots of broll (cutaway shots) then voicing it after means you avoid the embarrassment of talking to your camera in public or attracting too much attention. You can be lazier and piece it together later with a voiceover as long as you grab the relevant footage or photos. Minuses: You have to write a script and the video feels a bit samey throughout. Vlog style example: Pluses: No need to write a script or record voiceover, it's very natural and makes your viewer feel they are on the journey with you. The connection is deeper. Minuses: You have to have no qualms about talking to camera in public and you need to keep recording face to camera and behind the camera narration to keep the story going. It's hard work thinking what to say, how it fits the story and nailing it without eating up your time. Nb. If you find you don't have the story filmed on the go in your 'face to camera' sections, you can later in the editing add some voiceover to bridge between sections (so a hybrid of the two styles.) Simplest short form videos ever You have no excuse for not creating short form videos. A single clip of you with some movement. Text over the top that fits your niche/messaging. Insane Live Video Launch The Marketing web has gone nuts over Alex Hormozi's Live $100m Money Models book launch that apparently netted him $150m this weekend. So much to learn from it, plus some controversy about his offer where you get 200 books free to gift to fellow business owners. π...
